TWO LETTERS TO THE EDITOR ON WAR IN IRAQ

Bush Is Right About At Least One Thing!

Dear Editor:

President Bush deserves our thanks for indirectly suggesting what the nations of the world need to do in order to prevent wars of mass destruction.  President Bush has demanded that Iraq destroy their weapons of mass destruction and pledge not to rearm.   A safe beginning for a world free of wars of mass destruction would be for ALL nations to destroy such weapons and pledge not to rearm.   It hardly seems likely that smaller powers will be willing to disarm as long as the worlds' superpowers continue to proliferate their arsenals of weapons.   Would the  United States be willing to destroy its' weapons of mass destruction and not rearm?  If not, do we have any right to demand that other nations  do what we are unwilling to do ourselves?

Sincerely,    John B. Isom

War and Peace

Dear Editor:

We claim to engage in wars in order to create peace on earth.  It seems to me we should all be more willing to die in order to establish a world free of poverty and free of war through non violent means rather than sending mostly our children to kill and be killed in the name of peace and democracy.

Sincerely,   John B. Isom
